Udvar

(Baranya County)

On the shield on a hill a triple-verdured tree is displayed behind its trunk two threshes with the stalks crossed. According to the decision of the body of representatives of the Village of Udvar the coat-of-arms reflects the form of the old seal print found on a document dated 1803.

The tree as a motif is an ancient symbol: the symbol of respect for trees, and the circulation of nature and time. Usefulness of trees plays an important role in our life: it is the basic material of cradles, beds and coffins.

The three verdured also carries hidden thoughts: three is probably the most sacred numbers; it symbolises totality, divine order, perfectness and the order of universe. The two threshes in the seal, as a symbol of agricultural people, superior to contemporary seals. The tool of threshing brings us closer to bread, the symbol of life. The bread represents Christ.
