(Pest County)

Szentlőrinckáta's newly planned shield is adapted pleasantly in its simplicity to the lately prospering trend accepted by the experts of heraldry.

The shield luckily adapts the possibilities of the saint's delineation, functioning as distinctive element appearing in the village's name

Szent Lőrinc, the patron saint of the local church, lived in the III.century, was hispanian, but been busy in Roma, makes recognizable the shield for every spectator. According to the legend emperor Valerianus made him fried alive why he contradicted him, so the grate become his main symbol.

Perhaps it is not conscious, but next to Lőrinc respected as Spain's patron saint too, colours of Aragon red and gold stripes were placed.

Heraldrical description of Szentlőrinckáta's shield

Straight, cleaved shield with pointed bottom. On dexter side gules four bends and on sinister side in field azure Szent Lőrinc is standing with a grate in his right hand on a green hummock in a red field.

The slogan at the bottom of the shield in a green wavy ribbon shows the name of the village with golden letters does not belong to the concept of the shield closely but it can be used as an additional element.

According to the base principle of heraldry "that wears the most, who wears the less" the shield representing just few pictures and heroes fills the expected duties.

It is simple, single, but easy recognizable and telling everything about the village. And its special merit that did not try to force the characteristical agricultural elements for all Hungarian villages and disregard the description of the bunch of grapes, ploughshare or the grain sheaf.

The professionally carried out and in the same time simple and easy to understand shield lays claim legally to the impression of the inhabitants and their appreciation in the every day life.
