The shield

Form: The shield has got round side and sharp support. It's divided into parts with a horizontal line. The inscription Sand is on the floating gold ribbon over the shield. The shield is framed with two green olive branches which have got red berris. Colours: The upper part is blue the lower part is yellos (gold) Illustration: In the upper blue field there are three yellow (gold) ears of wheat. Two of them on the edge are tending from the middle to the right and the left corner of the shield, and that one in the middle is standing straight. In the lower yellos (gold) part there are a blue bunch of grapes.

Interpretetion: The hungarian settlements use these patterns in their shields. We, the inhabitants of Sand, can use the ear of wheat and the bunch of grapes in our shield because our forefathers led an agricultural way of life. Blue grapes are symbolizing the blue species of grapes growing in the vineyard of Sand. Our forefathers fought for the land and for the vineyard that's why we have the right to use these symbols.

From the drawings can be discovered that they was made in the end of the XX. century. The olive branches around the shield are symbolizing the wish for the peace of the inhabitants and the green colour means for the christian people the hope for a better future.
