The blazoned seal of the village, which is more than two hundred years old, can be found in the County Archives of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county. On it a coulter, a plough and a scythe can be found, i. e, the most common features of the coats of arms of villages.

Heraldic description of the coat of arms of Sajópetri: Shield curved to a point, party per pale. In middle field argent a plough azure is borne encouped, pointing upward and a scythe is borne encouped, pointing downwards. The tincture azure represents the river Sajó, referring to the geographical situation of the village.
