Ludányhalászi

(The County of Nógrád)

Shield erect and lined or; base and fess vert, chief azure. In field argent and vert a unicorn is borne, a motif, which also occurs in the coat of arms of the nobiliary Ráday family, the members of which used to live in Ludányhalászi. Fields argent and vert are separated by a strip argent, which symbolises the river Ipoly. In field azure a fish argent is borne. The field azure and the fish argent are both references to the fact that Ludányhalászi is rich in still waters. The field vert (green) refers to the fertile soil and the agricultural characteristics of the settlement.
