Hosszúpereszteg

(Vas County)

Hosszúpereszteg is an agricultural settlement, with traditions of wine growing. The charges seen in the background of the settlement’s coat-of-arms are mounds, which refer to the local wine hills including Alsó, Felső and Kecske Hills. The charge of the wine press in the foreground is another symbol of local wine-making.

The charges are borne in a field azure, a tincture, which refers to the proximity of the so-called Szajki-lakes.

The village is located by trunk road No. 8, at a distance of 70 kilometres from the western borders of Hungary. Since Hosszúpereszteg is surrounded by undulating hills and beautiful gardens, it is an ideal place for those visitors who seek peace and relaxation. Several famous spas can be found nearby and their benefits can also be enjoyed by the guests of the area.

A real ’earthly paradise’ can be found in the vicinity of the settlement. Six lakes join each other in this place and they are surrounded by deep forests. The lake water provides several opportunities for lovers of waters. The grassy lakeshore, dotted with nice trees is an attractive beach, ideal for sunbathers. Lovers of angling can pursue their hobby here, since all the lakes are abundant in fish. Holidaymakers can also locally buy a temporary fishing licence. On the lakeshore several shops and restaurants cater for the visitor with warm hospitality, which is unmistakably typical of village tourism. Meals, specialities of the area, as well as the local wines also give much joy to the visitor. Local people at Hosszúpereszteg do everything in order to offer unforgettable experiences to their guests.
