Alsóbogát

(The County of Somogy)

The shield of Alsóbogát is devided horisontally at the middle. The edge of the cloak and the deviding line are black. The upper part of the cloak is the same as the shield of Edde village.

On this part there are some agricultural equipments, such as:

- a rake on its backside vertically, with head up,

- a scythe horisontally, down with its point,

- a flait/thresher on the left to the direction of ten o'clock,

- on the right there is a hayfork with its head upside to the direction of two o'clock.

The lower part of the cloak shows the main enterance of the Festetics-Inkey family's residence. The colour of the back-ground is blue, the building is yellow and the roof is red. Alsóbogát lies twenty kilometers north from Kaposvár. The village can be approached from the road between Kaposvár and Fonyód on a four kilometers long dead end approach road.

The outskirts of the village is various. There are lakes in the vallies surrounded by forrests and groves with mushrooms, animals and brids. Some hundred years old trees are standing in the park of the residence.

The hilly forrests are rich in animals. Hunters from Germany and Austria regulary hunt here... They have bought estate properties and built houses here.

The name of the village originates from the name of a prince, whose domination was based by metallurgical activities.

The village belonge to the Pannon Abbacy, and later, in the time of Turkish supremacy became depopulated. After that some famous family-namly Lengyel, Boronkai, Festetics, Zichy and Inkey-utilized the fields of Alsó(Lower)- and Felső(Upper)-Bogát.
